The story behind the development of the original saddle mount

OLIGHT SEEMEE30 tail light placed horizontally at the rear end of the saddle
The stylish design of the OLIGHT SEEMEE30 taillight matches well with road bikes, and I really liked it. However, I was not satisfied with the conventional mounting method of attaching it to the seat post with a rubber band, and I felt a strong desire to improve it.
On the other hand, my experience using a 3D printer to create parts that were close to my ideal made me wonder if I could create parts that would make bikes even more stylish and original.
These two ideas came together and I decided to try making a saddle mount that would allow the SEEMEE30, which is normally attached vertically to the seat post, to be attached horizontally to the saddle.
Why did you turn it sideways?
The reason is simple: I thought it was cool. It is a design I have never seen on the market before, and it is inspired by the high-mounted stop lamps of cars. I hoped that placing the stop lamps in a high position would make the bike look more stylish, while at the same time increasing visibility.
Installation method innovation
Conventional mounting methods were insufficient to mount the tail light sideways on the rear end of the saddle. Therefore, in order to integrate the light closer to the saddle, we adopted a shape that inserts it from the side. This innovation has resulted in a design in which the saddle and the light are integrated.
Saddle-specific design
Most general saddle mounts have simple shapes that prioritize versatility and cost, and they don't match the design of the saddle, so they look like they've been added on later. So I designed one specifically to match the shape of the saddle, aiming for a design that feels like an extension of the saddle. This allowed me to integrate the light with the bike while ensuring safety and without compromising the original design of the bike.
Repeated prototyping and refinement
There were many issues in the early prototype stages, but we repeatedly made prototypes while reviewing the design and materials. We also took seriously the complaints and feedback from our customers and improved the product, which allowed us to complete a more complete saddle mount.
In the original model, the claws of the light were fitted directly into the mount, but due to issues with ease of attachment and strength, we changed to a method where one side of the claw is inserted into the mount and the other side is fixed with a rubber band. We also made various improvements to this small mount, such as adopting a removable pin to improve waterproofing. Even for something as simple as the rubber band, we continue to make improvements based on feedback from our customers, such as improving the firmness of the attachment and developing auxiliary tools.
The joy of meeting a niche need
This product is the embodiment of my own desire to mount a tail light sideways on the rear end of the saddle, and as a creator, I am very happy that people have purchased it because they sympathize with this need. We would like to continue to improve the product based on feedback from our customers and provide products that meet their expectations.
